Drynks Unlimited pitched a genuinely alcohol free craft drinks range made using vacuum distillation, at a point when the low and no category still had room for a dedicated specialist rather than a supermarket own brand.

Despite older write ups suggesting the brand kept expanding under its Smashed name, the official company register now shows it wound down.

What The Founders Asked For

Richard Clark, a drinks industry veteran, and UK sales director Paul Briscoe wanted £125,000 for 7.5 percent of the company, valuing the business at roughly £1.7 million.

Sara Davies backed the pitch, drawing on her own experience taking a specialist product, Crafter's Companion, from a niche idea into national retail.

The Category Timing

The zero alcohol aisle was still fairly sparse when this pitch aired, mostly the territory of big brewers dabbling in low strength lines rather than a specialist building the category from scratch.

Vacuum distillation, starting from a real beer or cider and stripping the alcohol back out, is a more expensive process than simply brewing weak from the start, and it gave the brand a genuine flavour claim to compete on.

What Changed

Companies House now lists Drynks Unlimited Ltd as dissolved, with a dissolution date of 26 October 2024, and the company's former drynks.store web address has since been taken over by an unrelated blog.

The official UK company register is exactly the record this kind of question should be settled against, and it shows the business no longer exists in its Dragons' Den form.

Note: Based on the public record; company situations can change, so treat this as a snapshot.
