Michael Pritchard pitched The Anyway Spray, a spray head engineered to work at any angle so trigger bottles waste less liquid, wanting £125,000 for a quarter of the business, with Theo Paphitis and Peter Jones both in the room.

The underlying technology is still very much in business today.

Fixing A Universal Annoyance

Ordinary trigger sprays only draw from one direction, leaving usable liquid stranded as a bottle tips or empties, and Pritchard's tube design, punched with thousands of tiny holes along its length, solved that by letting the nozzle pull liquid regardless of the bottle's position.

Reports on the pitch indicate no investment ultimately followed filming, and the business moved forward without either Dragon on board.

A Kitchen Fix Turned Supply-Chain Deal

Instead of remaining a single consumer gadget, Pritchard steered the company toward licensing the tube design directly to manufacturers and the firms that fill bottles on their behalf, a far bigger market than selling one spray head at a time to individual shoppers.

That shift eventually landed a supply arrangement with Tesco to roll the design across its own-label cleaning spray range, with the retailer's own figures pointing to a large annual saving in cleaning fluid that would otherwise go unused in discarded bottles.

Where Things Stand

The company behind the invention keeps filing current accounts, describing itself today around low-waste, climate-conscious contract filling rather than a single retail product.

Getting built into a major supermarket's own-brand supply chain is a stronger real-world result than most studio investments ever deliver, deal or no deal.

Note: Based on the public record; company situations can change, so treat this as a snapshot.
