The Hub verdict

Robert Sak's ask was one of the leaner ones in this run: £40,000 for 20 percent of The Heart of Nature, the vegan wholegrain, seed and fruit-mix business, a £200,000 valuation. Deborah Meaden backed it.

A small raise against a fifth of the company reads as a founder wanting a partner's reach into the healthy-snacking market more than a large cash injection. Plant-based food had real momentum in this era, which tends to sharpen Dragon interest, and a modest cheque from an investor with grocery experience is the shape of deal that suits a food brand at this size.

A lean ask, and Deborah Meaden took a fifth of it.
